Who We Are

WHO WE ARE

Who We Are
Central Presbyterian is a church moving people toward Christ by being a community of faith that loves, encourages, and equips people in Christ, sending them out to serve others.

We believe people matter to God – we seek to be a church where the broken have found a true home.

We serve a risen Lord, Jesus Christ, and whether you believe in Jesus or are just searching, learning, yearning, or looking for a community, you are welcome here.

We are a Church at All Times and in All Places

We are a community of faith that can’t be pinned down to a single place or property or set of buildings. Our relationship with Christ spills out into our lives, into our homes, our communities and our workplace. God is in control, so where we live, work and play is no accident. God has placed us there to be messengers of his love and to be servants to others.

We want to creatively embrace our "world," wherever we are, so that we may live Jesus' message of forgiveness, love and hope.

We are a Church that Embraces Our Differences

Who We Are 3

When we get together to worship we desire to reflect the diversity of the communities around us. What brings us together is Christ: we don’t get hung up on how much money a person makes, the color of their skin, the sin they struggle with, their age or their background. In fact, we do everything we can to tear down the walls these things have created.

We are a Missionary Church

We are committed to meet the needs of the others inside and outside our walls. We want to share the Good News of what God did in Christ with people as far away as Burma and Brazil, and as close by as our own neighborhoods.

We have a rich heritage of reaching out to people everywhere. We want to build on that heritage by building bridges to people that don’t know Christ or see His relevance to their lives.

We are Committed to Social Justice

We promote social justice. We will lovingly, but courageously, stand up for our faith and are willing to engage society in honest discussion, and to take a stand for holiness, justice and compassion.

We are a Church that Ministers to Neighborhoods

Who We are 2

We want to be a church that is known and valued by our neighbors. We look for practical ways for our faith to be relevant to our communities and the people of Baltimore as an expression of our commitment to Christ. We believe that compassionate service is a hallmark of expressing God’s love for the world around us.

Moving people towards Christ, and helping them be devoted followers, is at the center of all that we do. We believe that lives are changed through the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. We encourage each other to grow in Christ, and to seek after God with our whole hearts.

We are an Equipping Church

We seek to be servant-leaders who are learning how to raise up others in the church to lead too. We want to equip and support people as they serve and grow. We encourage others to discover their unique spiritual gifts and hear what God is calling them to do. Who We Are 4

We are an Empowered Church

Ultimately lives are changed by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. Effective ministry is borne out of an ever deepening relationship with God. We encourage each other to grow in Christ, and to seek after God with our whole hearts, so that God may reveal his will for us, individually and as a church body, and empower us to do it.
